Driving Without Car Insurance Los Angeles CA

Reader’s Question:

I received a ticket for driving without insurance in Los Angeles CA and I am wondering how much the ticket will be.

Pam

Los Angeles, CA

Well Pam, if you fail to show proof of financial responsibility, meaning car insurance coverage, thats a serious offense. Violating this California code could result in fines up to $500 and other penalties, suspension of the driver’s license and impoundment of the car. If your car is impounded the you will have to pay for all tow charges and storage as well. Whew!

I have a cousin who got caught driving without insurance in Los Angeles and I think he paid around a hundred dollars for that. I believe that was his first conviction.

The court in the jurisdiction you received the ticket for driving without insurance will determine the exact amount of the fine that will be charge to you. When the court has decided the amount of fine, normally you can pay in person at the court or by mail. Check the ticket, court Web site or courtesy notice, to see whether you can also pay online or over the phone. This California court site may permit you to find out your fine amount if you were cited driving uninsured.
